  Our hometown: Henry, Illinois

Henry, Illinois, "The Best Town In Illinois By A Dam Site," is nestled in the heart of the Illinois River Valley. Trees and hills abound in an area often misconceived as flat prairieland.

This picturesque, river town is conveniently located at the intersection of Route 29 & 18, 30 minutes from Peoria (south) and LaSalle-Peru (north).

The area is 15 minutes from Interstate 80 (north) and Interstate 39 (east), which makes Henry only 2 hours from Chicago, Bloomington-Normal, the Quad Cities, and Rockford.

In addition to this, a proposed Chicago to Peoria interstate may someday pass through or near the Henry area.

Henry-Senachwine, Community Unit District 5
Home to the Mallards (high school) & the Cardinals (grade school).

Both schools have state-of-the-art computer systems and excellent teaching staffs. Academics, Sports, and the Arts are all important parts of our schools.

The current student population is approximately 700 students, with a student/teacher ratio of 16:1. 95% of high school seniors received diplomas and 85% continued on to a 2 or 4 year college. Information provided by National School Reporting Services, Inc.

Children will enjoy Henry's summer recreation programs that make use of the many parks in town.

These parks offer playgrounds, swimming, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, and sand volleyball.

Being on the Illinois River, Henry is a prime location for boating, fishing, and other water sports.

Henry is also home to River Valley Bowl bowling alley and Crooked Knee Golf Course.

Henry hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, including:
Henry's Fourth of July Celebration - held every year from July 1-4, with a carnival in Central Park, live entertainment, a parade, and riverside fireworks on the night of the 4th.

The Marshall-Putnam County Fair - held in mid-July, featuring Truck & Tractor pulls, livestock shows, horse racing, demolition derbies, and many more events.

Perdew Days - held in late September, honors one of Henry's most famous residents, Charles Perdew, world renowned decoy carver.
